International Digital Centre is a major audio/video post production company seeking a Tape Operator /Media Encoder for its Manhattan production center. The candidate must have a strong technical background with extensive experience with both analog and digital audio/video systems, basic non-linear editing, digitizing, transcoding, format/frame rate conversion, and conforming media to meet stringent technical standards for multiple content distribution platforms.

Responsibilities include:

• Consult with project managers to confirm details pertaining to incoming orders, and provide workflow recommendations.

• Capture legacy SD and HD content from tape/disc sources.

• Prepare screeners for distribution. Pull-up commercial black and trim BTS & bumpers when appropriate.

• Stage and manage accelerated file transfer solutions, i.e., Aspera, Signiant, etc.

• Applicants should have application expertise across MacOS and Windows workstations, familiarity with A/V codecs and file wrappers, have experience with frame rate conversions via Alchemist and cloud services.

Skills must include:

• Operation and Maintenance of legacy video/audio production equipment

• Non-linear video conforming/editing/exporting

• Adobe Creative Cloud operations

• Ability to identify and conform all media file parameters to specifications

• Capture/Digitization of content from legacy media systems

• Familiarity with QuickTime MOV, AVID MXF, XDCAM MXF, MP4.

• Familiar with backup technologies: LTO, cloud storage management and retrieval 

• Familiar with File-based Audio/Video Media and Codecs:

• ProRes (all versions), MPEG (all versions), JPEG2000, TIFF, DNxHD/DNxHR, BWAV, AC3, etc.

Candidate needs to be highly detail oriented and prepared to learn about and accurately report both visual and audio issues that must be identified and fixed before public presentation. Description

IDC is a full-service global media distribution and post-production facility that partners with major Hollywood studios, broadcast and cable networks, advertising agencies, and streaming services to name a few.

We currently have an opening for a QC Technician. Candidate must be experienced in both Mastering and Broadcast linear QC for SD, HD, UHD and 4K content. This position is located in our midtown NYC facility. Bi-lingual a plus but not mandatory.

Primary Responsibilities

• Individual will perform quality control evaluations on video, audio (5.1 and 2.0), subtitles and graphics on client-supplied assets.
• Individual will have knowledge of both file and tape-based assets and be familiar with file-based playback programs such as Clipster and GrayMeta's Iris and multiple tape-based formats/decks.
• Experience with multiple file format wrappers and codecs
• Generate thorough and detailed reports noting technical specs of assets and detailing all technical flaws detected during QC.
• Ensuring assets meet all client and SMPTE technical specifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, and skill-set:

• AA degree in A/V technology, television production or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of quality control experience in the entertainment industry.
• Master source quality control experience is preferred.
• Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of audio, video, and film.
• Individual must be able to troubleshoot quality control issues, software, and player anomalies.
• Individual must have a keen eye for detail, be well organized, and work well under tight deadlines.
• Individual must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Individual must be able to work independently and be comfortable making determinations concerning the severity of technical anomalies detected during QC.
• Individual must possess strong time management skills.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, nights, and/or weekends (as needed) to meet project deadlines.
